Genotropin 36IU Injection (12mg/ml) contains Somatropin, a recombinant human growth hormone (rHGH). It is primarily used to treat growth hormone deficiency in both children and adults, as well as other growth-related disorders.

Mechanism of Action:
It stimulates growth and controls metabolism by imitating the action of natural human growth hormone (GH), which is derived from somatropin. It binds to growth hormone (GH) receptors on target cells, particularly in the liver, to stimulate the synthesis of Insulin-like Growth Factor 1 (IGF-1), an essential protein for the development of bone and muscle. Somatropin decreases insulin sensitivity to increase protein synthesis, facilitate fat breakdown, and control glucose metabolism. It helps with tissue regeneration and repair as well as children's linear bone growth. Taken together, these activities help children and adults grow, build muscle, and have healthy metabolisms.

Uses:

  • Growth Hormone Deficiency in Children and Adults.
  • Short stature due to Turner syndrome or chronic renal insufficiency in children.
  • Wasting Syndrome in HIV patients.
  • Prader-Willi Syndrome: To improve growth and body composition in children with this genetic disorder.
    Side Effects:
    • Injection site reactions
    • Headaches
    • Muscle or joint pain
    • Swelling
    • Hyperglycemia
  • Hypothyroidism
    How to use this Medication?
For growth hormone replacement therapy or associated diseases, somatropin injections are subcutaneously injected and come in prefilled pens or vials. They are typically given once a day. Depending on the treatment, the frequency may change; for example, daily or every other day for HIV-associated wasting syndrome or daily for short bowel syndrome.

The initial somatropin injection may be given by your doctor, or they may instruct you or a caregiver on how to give one at home. Ensure you understand the instructions and ask your healthcare provider any questions about injection locations, needle disposal, or administration.

Injection of somatropin should be continued even if you feel good. Avoid stopping somatropin injection without first seeing your physician.
